Over the last 3 months, the Reaching Out team have been working hard to raise the profile of the project among local BME communities. As part of this we published an article in the Asian Leader newspaper in April and the project coordinator worked alongside other BHA staff in a radio interview broadcasted on local community radio stations, one of which featured on Radio Ramadan during the month of October. And most recently the project was profiled in a Progress Report on the Governments Strategy for race equality and community cohesion.

Currently work is in progress on a joint partnership between the Reaching Out project and a number of the local drug services, who we are trying to get to participate in the delivery of sessions. As well as providing more detailed information about services, we hope this will help to bridge the gap between BME communities and drug service providers. The Reaching Out project is also in talks with the Community Health Trainers and is looking to host joint training session in the New Year.

The Reaching Out project have recently said farewell to two of our sessional workers, Ayaz Chaudhry and Manju Kaushal and we would like to wish them all the very best for the future. At the same time we would like to welcome Rukhsana Hemani and Mohammed Nabeel to the project.  We wish them the best of luck in their new employment.
